Security is also an ownership question.

SECURITY + GOVERNANCE

A control needs someone behind it.

A policy can describe what should happen. A configured tool can enforce part of it. But someone still needs to review exceptions, respond to changes, and decide when a rule no longer fits.

That makes ownership a practical part of security design. For each important control, identify the responsible person or team, the evidence they need, and the rhythm for review. Keep the responsibilities understandable to the people who must carry them out.

Make the next decision easier.

Document the reason for a control as well as its configuration. When the environment changes, that context helps a future team judge what to preserve and what to revisit.

Bring this question to your team: If an exception appears tomorrow, is it clear who will decide what happens next?
